What are polishing pastes?
Polishing pastes are slightly abrasive mixtures made from aluminum oxide, corundum, tripoli*, or even diamond powders, combined with solid or semi-solid binders based on vegetable or mineral fats.
They are applied to leather strops or wheels made of sisal, cotton, flannel, or felt—and can even be applied manually—to polish your workpieces with efficiency and precision.
Types of polishing pastes and Their Uses.
Each polishing paste has a specific function and a dedicated use. Here is a selection of the most common types:
- Green paste (605): Ideal for a mirror polish on stainless steel; perfect for finishing knife blades.
