What is the Tripoli abrasive?
Tripoli is a natural mineral composed of more or less friable microcrystalline silica.
Its finesse and structure of its rounded grains rather than sharp ones make it a "soft" abrasive, a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, recommended for polishing tender or valuable materials.
