Why use polishing pies ?

Polishing pastes are essential in manufactured articles finishing processes.

They allow to eliminate the inevitable machining traces (micro-scratches, traces of shocks, bright edges), to perfect the finish of shapes (regularity of the parts, homogeneity of the surfaces) and give a final appearance that can go satin to a satin to a brilliant brilliant according to technical or aesthetic considerations.

At each desired surface state corresponds a type of polishing paste that has been developed according to the materials to be treated and of an optimized use of use, both for its ease of implementation and for its efficiency and the quality of the result obtained.

To facilitate the identification of polishing pastes, each type of dough is associated with a particular color.

At Sacille Spap, we have been marketing pasta to polish since 1962 and we know them well. We have acquired our expertise throughout these years with a multitude of actors in the Cunting industry in the Thiernoise region and we put it today in the service of all cutery, goldsmithing, arts of the table and decoration. Throughout the world.

How many types of polishing pasta is there ?

Manufacturers have developed polishing pasta over the years adapted to all types of materials, taking into account the peculiarities of the latest leadership technologies: alloys of steels, non-ferrous metals, composite materials.

Particular attention has been paid to binders mainly composed of animal materials and which are now replaced by vegetable fats and mineral waxes for ethical and health reasons, but also for practical and performance issues.

If the quality and balance of mixtures and components of polishing pulp destinies them to treat very precise materials, they are happily versatile most of the time and can be used on several types of materials. For each kind of polishing dough, the areas of use and recommended media are detailed for optimal result.

With no less than 60 references in stock, of which twenty for sale on our online store, Sucille spa supplies industrial, craftsmen and enthusiasts of creation and including professional or occasional cutlers of unique knives.

Liquids, solid or sometimes between the two, our polishing pasta are conditioned in formats adapted to our customers: cans of several hundred liters or solids of 7 to 8 kg for industrialists, solid breads of 200g to 1.8kg for Cutting craftsmen, 10g syringes of diamond dough for careful and specific work.

Whatever the materials to be treated, we have the adapted polishing paste and essential use brackets (polishing discs and abrasive tapes).

Composition of polishing pasta.

The polishing pastes marketed by Sauille spap are exclusively made from mineral or vegetable fats and fats.

They are obtained by the balanced mixture of these binders with corundum abrasive grains, aluminum oxide or microcrystalline silica (Tripoli) of different granulometries depending on proportions that will determine the properties of pasta.

For many years, we have tied a privileged relationship with one of the world's best polishing pasta manufacturers: the Spanish firm Gubosa de Barcelona.

We have been able to measure the professionalism of our partner both in its permanent research and efficiency efforts of its polishing pasta than in its manufacturing ethics.

A small idea of granulometry equivalences ?

An optimized balance of the abrasive / grease / wax mixture will determine the types of materials that can be worked and the surface aspects that can be obtained.

For example, polishing paste Gubosa 103 will have approximately granulometry equivalent to a P180 grain (following the European FEPA standard) while the polishing dough Gubosa 300 will have about P320 FEPA granulometry.

How to use the polishing dough ?

Polishing pastes are used by having previously impregnated a support generally consisting of a cotton, cotton-flannel fiber disc, sisal or more or less flexible felt mounted on an axis of drive, a toure tree or on equipment Electroportatif.

An essential rule to follow before any implementation: never use different polishing pasta types on the same support !

The mixture of different pasta on the same polishing disc exposes to a result completely the opposite of the one sought, but also at a risk of deterioration on the object worked impossible to catch up afterwards.

It is preferable (and from afar!) To be able to assign a type of polishing paste by support and change the disk on the machine according to the task to be made.

The polishing paste applies directly using the solid bread on the rotating bracket so that the slight heating due to the movement of the disc softens slightly the dough which spreads very easily. The amount of dough to be deposited on the support will be determined by tests because each polishing process is unique, both by the materials to be working and the dough and the type of disk used. Cotton and cotton-flannel polishing discs require strong impregnation for optimal result.

Our polishing pasta are dry and generally leave very few residues on the parts after polishing. A finishing cycle using a flannel disk will wipe the traces of residues by making the surfaces treated perfectly clean.

In some cases, and depending on the material to be treated, the polishing paste applied to the disc is too dry and does not adhere enough. To overcome this inconvenience, do not hesitate to apply a little tallow to the support, which will have the effect of slightly grease the tool and improve the adhesion of the dough. Be careful, however, not to have the hand too heavy because the more the dough will be "greasy" and the more it may remain residues on the treated room.

What supports for the use of polishing pasta ?

Our polishing pasta are used on a textile support and polishing can be done manually by rubbing the object to be treated.

However, the best results will be obtained in application on a cotton, flannel, sisal or felt disc according to the manufacturer's recommendations indicated on the technical sheet of each product.

Mounted on axes of powerful training trestles in industrial media for largest diameters, polishing discs can also be used on more modest ties for intermediate diameters of 150 to 200 mm and on electroportatives for small Diameters up to 100 mm.

As a general rule, craftsmen or occasional users will focus on means and small models of polishing discs for their ease of implementation and flexibility of use.

SPAP Soucille can advise and provide the best mounting systems according to your installation and your use.

For polishing what materials ?

Modern or ancient, natural or synthetic, all materials can be polite according to aesthetic or functional necessities such as, for example, the decrease in the phenomena of friction or oxidation wear by eliminating as much as possible the areas promoting the appearance rust.

In cutlery media, polishing will also give the final cutting edge to the blades.
By observation and experience, manufacturers have developed over the years specific polishing pasta according to the type of material treated and depending on the desired result.

Poor pulps being composed of wax, grease and carefully chosen abrasives, it is the well-determined and balanced mix that will give its properties to the dough.

Thus, for example, the qualities of our polishing breads 410 and 412 will be perfect for giving "gently" brilliant to tender materials such as natural horn, aluminum, brass or zamak while bread 605 will have more "biting To give a specular appearance (mirror polished) to very hard materials such as steel, titanium, chrome or cobalt.

The choice of polishing paste suitable for the treated material will be decisive to prevent any risk of heating that can cause irreparable damage to the polishing piece.

For each type of polishing paste, the product sheet shows the use medium recommended by the manufacturer for an optimal result (cotton discs, flannel, sisal or felt).

In SPAP Soucille, All our polishing pasta are free of animal materials and contain only vegetable or mineral waxes and fats.

Who are the users ?

Polishing processes meet in all areas of industry, crafts and, more and more often, among individuals they are passionate about creating or simply handymen.

If in large state-of-the-art industries polishing techniques can be widely automated, manual processes remain majority in artisanal and individuals, promoting visual control of the final result and highlighting the know-how of operators.

With the appearance of the production of goldsmith and the arts of the table and of advanced equipment production industries (medical, automotive, aeronautics, etc.), we have developed an expertise of the techniques and polishing processes that benefits everyone, From the production of series parts to the creation of unique pieces.

SPAP Soucille offers polishing pastes in different packages to meet each user needs.

For many years, we have been the privileged partners of Thiers Coutlers and its region.
