How to obtain a "mirror polish" in 3 steps?
You can find on our website a large choice of polishing pastes. But which ones to choose and how to use them to obtain what is called a "mirror polish"? The SPAP SOUCILLE team has prepared a small guide to help you to achieve this operation as simply and quickly as possible.
1) Some reminders about our polishing pastes:
Our polishing pastes are specific to certain materials or uses. They can be applied on differents supports like our polishing disc. To learn more, you can read our blog article "How to choose your polishing paste". SPAP SOUCILLE reminds you never mix several polishing pastes on the same support (1 support = 1 paste).
2) The steps to follow for the "mirror polish" :
What is a mirror polish? It consists in polishing the blade of your knife to obtain the most brilliant result possible so that you can see yourself almost as if in a mirror.
First, follow the right steps when working with the abrasives belts. Do not skip any steps and finish with a 400 or even 600 grit.
You must then respect 3 very precise steps, which we detail below.
Step 1:
Use our pink paste, the 505, with our sisal cotton discs. This will allow you to remove the micro scratches. It is necessary to impregnate the disc of pastes well to prevent it from falling appart when you start.
Step 2:
Apply our white paste, the 622, on our cotton discs in order to have a shiny finish. Choose a cotton with one seam if you want more flexibility or with several if you want more rigidity.
Step 3:
Finish with our green paste, the 605, on a cotton disc. It is with this paste that you will obtain your final result: the mirror polish. Then pass on your piece a flannel disk which has the particularity of being very soft. This will allow to clean and give the last little shine. And that's it!
Several sizes of pastes are available on our website (large model, small model and very small model). Choose the one that suits you according to your use (regular or not).
