Zirconium ZF713 high strength ABRASIVE DISCS.

VSM ZF713 abrasive discs feature exceptionally strong grains for low and medium pressure sanding.
Zirconium grains are close to corundum in hardness and have the ability to break up into new sharp edges (self-sharpening properties).
Zirconium has a naturally low thermal conductivity and allows for large cold material removals.
The materials worked on are protected from blueing and deformation due to excessive heating.

Zirconium: a natural material with many facets.

Zirconium is a dense, chemically inert alluvial sand with high refractive and refractory properties and very little sensitivity to thermal expansion and conductivity.
Transparent specimens are used in jewellery as a substitute for diamonds, whose characteristics they approach.
Zirconium abrasive is produced by grinding the natural material and adding a small amount of aluminium oxide.
This mixture, followed by heat treatment, considerably improves the wear resistance, elasticity and toughness of the resulting abrasive.
The final qualities of the Zirconium abrasive become particularly interesting in grinding and polishing processes:
- Thermal insulation
- Flexural strength
- Electrical insulation
- Temperature and thermal shock resistance
- Resistance to breakage.
Heat treatment gives Zirconium its beautiful blue colour.

A robust vulcanised fibre backing.

VSM Zirconium ZF713 ABRASIVE DISCS consist of a strong and rigid backing of deformation resistant vulcanised fibre on which the abrasive grains are distributed and bonded by a high performance resin in an open powder coating (30-60% overlap) for better dust and chip removal.
VSM ZF713 Zirconium ABRASIVE DISCS are ideal for heavy duty work at low to medium pressure and have an excellent service life.

A reliable and secure attachment system.

The VSM ZF713 Zirconium grinding discs are designed to perform difficult work on the hardest metals (non-alloyed steels, stainless steels, etc.).
They are used with their Ø5 in. support plate on which they are firmly held by the spur nut of the angle grinder.
Compliant with oSa® certification for safe use under extreme stress, the VSM Zirconium ZF713 ABRASIVE DISCS nevertheless require suitable personal protective equipment.
